BFL BACK IN FULL SWING, KICK OFF SATURDAY

Ambros Inc. announces the Budeweiser Football League (BFL) is back! The 2015 schedule is set to commence on November 14, 2015 and conclude with the Latte Stone Championship game on January 30, 2016.

PRESS RELEASE – Hagatna, GU November 9, 2015: Ambros Inc. announces the Budeweiser Football League (BFL) is back! The 2015 schedule is set to commence on November 14, 2015 and conclude with the Latte Stone Championship game on January 30, 2016. Games are tentatively scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays at the Mikkel Tan I. Vy Field in Tiyan, with the exception of the semi-finals and the Latte Stone Championship Bowl games, which will be held on Friday and/or Saturday night at Hal’s Angels Field in Dededo.

The 2015 BFL will feature the 3x BFL Champion Silver Raiders sponsored by IT&E, the Hal’s Angels sponsored by Micronesia Renewable Energy, the Island Eagles, the Island Chiefs, and the Black Raiders. Fred Tupaz, League Commissioner, said “The BFL is comprised of many local standout athletes and a mixture of military personnel that will bring the excitement and competitiveness of football while promoting physical fitness for the adult athletes of our island.”

The BFL would also like to acknowledge the support of our league benefactors: Dr. Vince Akimoto and the Guam Medical Association, the Law Offices of Attorney John B. Bell, Island Equipment, Family Finance Co., and Lemmai Café.

QUICK HITS

The JFK Islanders won the first ever Memorial Weekend High School Basketball Tournament.

The All-Tournament selection were Zhion Macapinlac JFK, Darwin Ecijan JFK, Matthew Quinata Southern, and Malcom Fernandez Tiyan.

JFK’s Collin Rillamas was named tournament MVP.

The Prospects captured the Guam PONY Colt Spring Baseball League (14-16) championship Saturday with a masterful 2-0 win over the Smokies.
Pitchers Gavin Alcantara (5 innings) and Javier Taimanglo (2 innings) combined to throw a no-hitter.
Taimanglo and Juan Carlo Presnell drove in the two runs for the Prospects, and Skyler Paulino had two hits.
