TENORIO’S HEROICS LEADS GUAM OVER SAMOA

Stuff legends are made of.

Noah Tenorio lived out a scene every basketball player dreams of.

Trailing by three points, Tenorio completed a four-point play to with :22 seconds left in the game to push Guam over Samoa 69-68 Wednesday night in the 2022 FIBA U15 Oceania Championship pool play.

Tenorio set a high pick on top of the key and confidently drained a long three-pointer while getting fouled to tie the game at 68-68 to send the Guam crowd into a frenzy. The young FD star calmly drained the free throw to put Guam ahead. Samoa had a chance to win it down the stretch but missed its free throws.

Michael Bork led Team Guam with a game-high 28 points with Tenorio saving four of his nine points when it really counted.

Guam trailed 65-58 with three minutes left in the game before making the huge comeback.

Guam takes on Papua New Guinea on Thanksgiving Day in the quarterfinals with the winner facing Australia in Friday’s semifinals.
