AU MANA SWEEPS LADY TRITON LEAGUE

Duenas takes MVP honors

PRESS RELEASE – The Au Mana volleyball club won the Lady Triton Volleyball League Championship on Wednesday night in the UOG Calvo Field House with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-15 and 25-16) victory over the Lady Bomber volleyball team from Andersen Air Force Base.

The opening set was a close affair, with the match being back and forth from start to finish, but Au Mana won with a final push, 25-22. The next 2 sets were not that close, with Au Mana dominating play and winning the match 25-15 and 25-16.

Au Mana was 5-1 for the season with their lone loss coming to the Lady Tritons in the final regular season match of the league and the Lady Bombers finishing 4-2 with both losses coming to Au Mana.

The UOG Lady Tritons finished the league in 3rd place with a 3-1 win over GuamPro 1 in the 3rd Place match earlier on Wednesday evening. The Lady Tritons finished their season with a 4-3 record while GuamPro 1 ended their league play with 2-4 record. GuamPro 2 finished their season last week with a 0-5 record.

The Lady Triton Volleyball League will return in the Fall of 2023.

Guam’s Wayne Blas completed his 13th Boston Marathon and 38th marathon overall.
The island’s record holder in the distance, Blas finished this year in 2:35:21.
“I’m very happy with this result because seven months ago, I was sidelined with a stress fracture that kept me out for three months. No running! To come back on an abbreviated marathon build and finish one of the toughest races strong and healthy was a big win for me.”
His time of 2:29:38 at the 2023 Chicago Marathon and World Marathon Majors Age Group Championships stands as the Guam National Record.
