COUGARS, FRIARS UNBEATEN IN BOWLING

All-Island Meet on May 4

PRESS RELEASE – The Father Duenas Memorial School Friars and Academy of Our Lady of Guam Cougars completed the regular season undefeated as they rolled past the Guam Adventist Academy Angels during the last day of the IIAAG High School Bowling League match up for both teams at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.

The Friars’ were led by Evan Duenas’ 325 two game set with teammate Aron Hernandez 17 pins adrift for second.  Don Lloyd slipped into the third post as the highest ranked Angel in the match. Aaron Lupola and Graig Reyes rounded off the top four bowlers for the Friars’ for their 12 team points.  Anthony Lee and Israel Poppe finished in 9th and 10th as Darius Jano-Edward rounded off the top four bowlers for the Angels in 12th place for a 34-point team total.

The top four bowlers from each school advance to the All-Island meet on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.  The Friars’ will be represented by top seed Evan Duenas, Aron Hernandez, Aaron Lupola and Graig Reyes.  The Angel’s qualified representatives are Israel Poppe, Don Lloyd, Trevaine Stephen and Anthony Lee.  All bowlers who did not enter the top four positions from their respective schools will compete on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 where the top twelve bowlers will have an opportunity to advance to the All-Island Boy’s meet.

The girls match up produced a nail biter as the Cougars edged the Angels 17-21.  The Angel’s Charlotte Oh took top honors during the match as Cougars’ Frencin Cabuhat and Eriana Ada settled for second and third.  Angel’s Jamine Lee finished in fourth while Cougars’ MInellie Dacanay was one pin adrift.  Leanne Losongco of the Angels finished in sixth as the Cougars secured the title with bowlers placing in 7th to 9th including Alliyah Ferrer, Grenzyll Dela Cruz and Atissa Rabon.  MayJay Patis rounded off the top four bowlers for the Stars settling for the 21-point team total.

The girls All-Island match will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center with all females qualifying for the meet.

Regular season action continues Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the Central Lanes Bowling Center with the last set of the season match up.

Guam’s Jeremiah Camacho shot a perfect game at the 48th Hong Kong Open. The 22-year-old Guam National Team Member shot his 18th career perfect game on lanes 1 and 2 at Top Bowl Lanes in Hong Kong.
