MUNA LEADS DODGERS TO TOURNEY FINALS

Shon Muna, Jr. pitches 13 innings in one day

PRESS RELEASE – The Dodgers won two games on Sunday to advance to the championship game of the Triton Baseball – UOG Endowment Foundation Invitational tournament, thanks to the pitching of Shon Muna Jr., who threw 13 innings on the day to beat the Amigos 6-2 and the UOG Tritons 6-1.

Muna Jr. started and finished the opening game of the day against the Amigos, throwing a three-hitter with five strikeouts and only walking one. In the 2nd game, Muna Jr. started again against UOG, only planning to throw a couple of innings to give him nine innings for the day, but he kept throwing through the 6th inning, giving up one run on three hits and no walks. He was relieved in the 7th inning by Freddy Cepeda Jr. to finish the last inning.

In the early game, the Dodgers scored two runs in the bottom of first inning and added three more in the 3rd to take a 5-1 lead. The Dodgers would add one more run in the bottom of the 6th while the Amigos scored one in the top of the 7th for the final score of 6-2.

Shane Muna went 3-for-3 for the Dodgers with two runs scored on the day.

Paul Campos took the loss for the Amigos, throwing six innings and giving up six runs, but only one earned run, while surrendering seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

The Amigos finished the Triton Invitational in 4th place with a 1-4 record for the tournament. The Dodgers advanced to the next game against the Tritons.

Dodgers vs. Tritons

The Dodgers again struck in the 1st inning, scoring three runs with the help of two Triton errors to set the table for Mike Bautista who doubled to score two runs. The Tritons would score a run in the top of the 2nd, but the Dodgers answered right back to score another run themselves in the bottom of the 2nd to make it 4-1.

The Tritons would have only one hit the rest of the way and the Dodgers would add two more runs in the bottom of the 6th to win 6-1.

No one would have more than one hit in the game, but Ayden Aguon would add another double for the Dodgers.

Rico Miner took the loss for the Tritons, throwing six innings in the game, giving up six runs, of which, two were earned, giving up four hits and striking out six with three walks.

The Tritons finished the tournament in 3rd Place, with a 2-4 record which included two wins over the Dodgers.

The Dodgers now move on to the Championship game on Friday night at 7 pm against the Pirates.
