POWERLIFTERS REPRESENT WELL IN TEXAS MEET

Ten athletes lift heavy in San Antonio

PRESS RELEASE – On September 24 and 25, a  team of ten athletes proudly represented Guam at the 2-day 2023 USA Powerlifting (USAPL) Iron Wars Meet—a USAPL-sanctioned meet—in San Antonio, Texas, hosted by Texas Strength Systems.

Guam Powerlifting Women (Iron Wars 2023) (L-R): Jana Maria Mojas, Morgan Duenas, Nica Andrea A. Mojas

For 16 weeks, all ten athletes put themselves through disciplined training and conditioning to  represent Guam with their best lifts in squats, bench presses, and deadlifts. Nearly all ten athletes  placed in their respective divisions, proving that the powerlifting community on Guam continues  to grow and develop athletes with skill, competition, and grit.

Athlete-coaches, Mikel Nicolas and Christian Duenas, are proud of the team’s performance  results and are ready to begin preparing the next team for later off-island meets. “I am very proud  of our team, and we could not have done this without everyone else’s support with bringing us  out here,” said Nicolas. “We will continue to promote the sport back home,  and maybe one day, Guam will host our own sanctioned meets,” said Duenas.
