
PRESS RELEASE – The Guam Basketball Confederation (GBC) is thrilled to announce that Ernest Aquino, one of Guam’s most esteemed basketball referees, has been selected to officiate at the FIBA U18 Women’s Asian Championship. The event will take place in Shenzhen, China, June 24-30, 2024.
Aquino’s appointment to this significant role underscores his exceptional skills and dedication to the sport of basketball. His participation not only highlights his personal achievements but also places Guam on the international stage, showcasing the high level of officiating talent emerging from our island.
“We are extremely proud of Ernest Aquino and his accomplishments,” said Referee Commissioner, Roy Dirige. “His participation in this championship is a great honor for Guam, and we are confident that he will represent us with integrity and excellence.”
Aquino has a distinguished record of officiating at both local and international levels. Most recently officiating at the 2023 Pacific Games in Solomon Islands. His involvement in the FIBA U18 Women’s Asian Championship will not only contribute to the success of the event but will also inspire aspiring referees from Guam and the wider Pacific region.
