BUKIKOSA-ESPLANA TAKES INDEPENDENCE TITLE

Queen of the lanes rolls past big field

PRESS RELEASE – Shannon Bukikosa-Esplana reigned supreme on Independence Day as she topped the Classified division and then went on to claim the overall tournament title. Bukikosa-Esplana bowled her heart out amongst 48 finalists in the match that pitted the winners of each division including the Open and Seniors.

She opened the final match with a three bagger, then added a turkey in the later frames to bring home the championship dough of $1,100.00 with a 232 game against senior champ Dan Nicholas and National Team member and open division champion Jeremiah Camacho.

All competitors bowled a four-game set to determine the top four in each division. The Classified division was topped by Joe Ramsey, followed by John Raymundo, Bukikosa-Esplana, and Eyan Duenas. Rick Ada led the Senior division followed by Nicholas, Arnold Hernandez, and Frank San Agustin. Camacho took top honors in the open division with Robert Peredo, Brian Manibusan and Juan Blas in the top four.

The top four bowlers in each division battled in a single game elimination where the top two bowlers proceed to the divisional finals. Bukikosa-Esplana overcame a tight classified field with a 200 total along with 13-year-old Eyan Duenas’ 198 ousting the top two seeds. The top two seeds in the Senior division survived their elimination round as Ada and Nicholas moved into the finals. Camacho roasted the four-player open division with a 248 game as 4th seed Juan Blas edged 2nd seed Peredo for the finals slot.

Bukikosa-Esplana, Nicholas, and Camacho disposed of their finals adversaries in convincing fashion which set up the overall championship finale.

The event was sponsored by Elegant Reflections, Budweiser, Central Lanes Bowling Center, supported by PinPoint Guam, and sanctioned by the Guam Bowling Congress.
