FITNESS EXPO SET FOR SEPTEMBER 14

Day will be filled with fitness events and activities

PRESS RELEASE – The World Natural Bodybuilding Federation Guam (WNBF Guam), in partnership with Ignite Juice Bar and Health City, will host the island’s first Fitness Expo and a premier bodybuilding show on Saturday, September 14, 2024. The event will occur from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the University of Guam Field House. 

WNBF Guam is committed to bringing together health, wellness, and lifestyle enthusiasts for a full day of fitness activities and competitions, educational workshops, vendor booths, food trucks, and more. 

“After seeing different FitExpos around the world, we want to bring the same experience and energy to Guam,” says event organizer and WNBF Vice President Domer Gabriel. “We have athletes and judges traveling from all over, and our goal is to bring the fitness and wellness community together.” 

FitExpo Event Highlights (8 a.m. – 2 p.m.) 

● 5k Run hosted by Guam Track and Field Association (6 a.m.) 

● Guam Powerlifting Federation Championship Series (8 a.m.) 

● Indoor cycling by Made Wild

● Strongman/Strongwoman Challenge by Bagzik Strength 671 

○ Truck Tire Flips 

○ Lever Ladder 

○ Truck Deadlifts 

○ Wheel of Pain 

WNBF Guam “The First One” Bodybuilding Show (3 p.m.) 

The inaugural bodybuilding show will include four competition categories – bodybuilding, men’s physique, women’s figure, and bikini. Athletes and judges from Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore, Philippines, Hong Kong, and Australia are expected to participate in this competition. 

“At WNBF Guam, our mission is to provide a platform for athletes to compete in a fair and drug-free environment. We are committed to promoting the highest standards of natural bodybuilding and ensuring a level playing field for all participants,” says event organizer and WNBF President Jeffrey Saavedra. 

Presenting gold sponsors include the Guam Army National Guard, Docomo Pacific, and Paradise Fitness. Silver and bronze sponsors include Hyatt Regency Guam, Coast 360, International Sports Center, Guam Visitors Bureau, Redcon1, Biofreeze, Todu Foundation, Revive 23, ExpressMed Pharmacy, Pepper Lunch, Sweat Demon, and So Good. 

Tickets are available at www.guamtime.net. Early access entry is at 8 a.m., and general admission begins at 10 a.m. Early bird ticket sale ends on August 17, 2024. Interested athletes can register for the bodybuilding show by visiting www.wnbfguam.com.

QUICK HITS

The JFK Islanders won the first ever Memorial Weekend High School Basketball Tournament.

The All-Tournament selection were Zhion Macapinlac JFK, Darwin Ecijan JFK, Matthew Quinata Southern, and Malcom Fernandez Tiyan.

JFK’s Collin Rillamas was named tournament MVP.

The Prospects captured the Guam PONY Colt Spring Baseball League (14-16) championship Saturday with a masterful 2-0 win over the Smokies.
Pitchers Gavin Alcantara (5 innings) and Javier Taimanglo (2 innings) combined to throw a no-hitter.
Taimanglo and Juan Carlo Presnell drove in the two runs for the Prospects, and Skyler Paulino had two hits.
