H.S. BOWLING ROLLS OUT FIRST WEEKEND OF ACTION

JFK’s Wolford nets new record

PRESS RELEASE – With the first week of bowling competition completed, JFK Islander Joevic Wolford set a new two-game record by scoring a total of 433 pins, averaging 216 pins per game, leading his team to a decisive victory over the GAA Angels. Wolford bowled games of 208 and 225 to lead the field, followed by Zayne Ayangco, who bowled a 240 in the second game to register the highest game of the day, finishing with a total of 400 pins. Stefan Azucena and Aiden George rounded out the top four, placing 3rd and 4th, respectively, with Nunu Quinata leading the Angels team and finishing in 5th place.

Harvest Christian Academy Eagles earned a win by defeating Tiyan High School Titans. Parker Ashland bowled a 216 in the second game, finishing with a 391 set, but fell short of the top spot by nine pins to Freshman Eyan Duenas, who bowled a 401 set with games of 190 and 211. Ye-Jun Yeo, Paul Ray, and Don Cabral completed the top four players for the Eagles, securing the win.

Okkodo High School Bulldogs also claimed a first-day victory over St. John’s School Knights. Although Knight’s Elijah Dewan topped the match, the Bulldogs dominated the next six slots for a 14-37 victory. Leading the Bulldogs were Denhar Manulu, Joel Silvestre, Damian Carbullido, Rainen Fernando, Billy Rey Donor, and Charles Tapang.

In the girls’ division, Isabella Galsim of Harvest Christian Academy posted the top score of the day, helping the Eagles defeat the Tiyan High School Titans 13-34. Sarah Joy Tumamak of the Titans finished second, but the Eagles’ trio of Denise Garcia, Lisa Li, and Rebecca Xu secured the win by closing out the top four positions.

St. John’s claimed the top four positions against Okkodo, led by Olivia Lee, followed by Ava Ouhadi, Malia Rozycki, and Naima Cook. Anne Leonardo finished 5th for the Bulldogs, who lost with a score of 10-38.

The Lady Islanders edged out a win against the Angels in a closely contested match. Juliana Lagma topped the match, with Charlie Cabarles finishing second for the Islanders. Eagles’ Alex Taimanglo, Mahana Vegafria, and Alyson Ksau took the next three spots, but the Islanders secured bowlers in 6th and 7th positions to achieve a four-point advantage and win the first week 16-20.

After an exciting start to the season, competition continues Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 4:15 p.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
