MARIANAS PRO MANILA DELIVERS THRILLING MATCHES

Manila tournament draws over 800 competitors

Manila, Philippines – April 20-21, 2024 – The Marianas Pro Manila jiu-jitsu tournament concluded with an overwhelming turnout, solidifying its position as one of the premier events in  the region. The tournament, held from April 20-21, 2024, at Festival Mall, Alabang, Philippines, showcased the best of jiu-jitsu talent, attracting over 800 athletes, including more than 40 from Guam, in a sold-out international event.

Supported by the Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB), Marianas Pro Manila marked its third consecutive sold-out event, drawing attention from the global jiu-jitsu community. The tournament, sanctioned by ASJJF (Asian Sport Jiu-Jitsu Federation), has established itself as one  of the top jiu-jitsu tournaments in Manila, highlighting the dedication of both organizers and  participants in elevating the tournament to new heights.

Their commitment to promoting sportsmanship, talent, and cultural exchange has been instrumental in  making this event a resounding success.” 

The partnership with GVB not only enhances the stature of jiu-jitsu in the region but also strengthens the ties between Guam and the Philippines, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and mutual respect among athletes and enthusiasts. 

Marianas Pro Manila, recognized as a premier jiu-jitsu event sanctioned by ASJJF, featured intense competition across multiple weight classes and divisions. The sold-out tournament will  culminate in the 5-star ASJJF ranked grand finale, The Marianas Open International  Championship, boasting an impressive $50,000 prize pool, to be held in Guam on October 12.

Guam’s Wayne Blas completed his 13th Boston Marathon and 38th marathon overall.
The island’s record holder in the distance, Blas finished this year in 2:35:21.
“I’m very happy with this result because seven months ago, I was sidelined with a stress fracture that kept me out for three months. No running! To come back on an abbreviated marathon build and finish one of the toughest races strong and healthy was a big win for me.”
His time of 2:29:38 at the 2023 Chicago Marathon and World Marathon Majors Age Group Championships stands as the Guam National Record.
