MVP OH TAKES GIRLS SINGLES GOLD IN ISA FINALS

ISA tennis finals day one

By Carmen Gogue

The ISA Girls Tennis singles division came to a close Thursday afternoon at the John F. Kennedy courts with league MVP Charlotte Oh beating JFK’s Mina Noble 8-0 in one set for the girls singles championship.

With windy and heat filled conditions, Oh and Noble were head to head in the first two games going to deuce both times with Oh being able to win the advantages and game points.

In the third game of the set, Oh swept with a 40 to love finish to move onto the fourth.

Maintaining a strong fight, Noble and Oh battled to deuce again in the fourth and fifth games. Noble fell short for the advantage giving Oh the game point wins.

As the last three games continued, Oh proved just how much she deserved the league MVP title with 40-30 in the sixth, 40-love in the seventh, and 40-15 in the eight to end the set.

Oh notes how this year’s season has felt for her “I’m really grateful for my whole team this year actually. I had a really fun time playing with them, this championship feels great,” said Oh.

Oh is only a sophomore attending the Guam Adventist Academy school and still has two more years in her high school tennis career to look forward to.

“I have two more years after this year. Hopefully, I can win again but you never know there are always new people that come in so I’ll just keep preparing each season,” said Oh.
