RAY SETS NEW HIGH SCHOOL RECORD

New record of 279 rolled by Harvest bowler

PRESS RELEASE – Harvest Eagles’ Paul Ray spared in his first two frames and then rolled ten consecutive strikes to set a new high school single game record in the Guam Bowling High Schools League with a score of 279. Ray achieved this on lanes 19 and 20. Despite his record-setting performance, the Eagles couldn’t clinch the win, as the Okkodo Bulldogs managed to upset the previously undefeated team.

It was quite the competitive showdown between the two schools as Bill Rey Donor led the Bulldogs, finishing just behind Rey with a 417 series, including a first game of 225 and a two-game total of 389. Teammate Rainen Fernando secured third place with a total of 369. As both teams vied for positioning points, Parker Ashland landed in fourth place for the Eagles, with Damian Carbullido taking fifth for the Bulldogs, followed by Alex Sheldon of the Eagles in sixth. The Bulldogs rounded out their top four with a seventh-place finish by Joel Silvestre and, with the help of Denhar Manlulu and Jendrick Esman, pushed the Eagles’ fourth finisher to tenth place, clinching the match with a score of 17-21.

The Tiyan Titans secured their first victory of the season by defeating the GAA Angels. Freshman Eyan Duenas led the Titans with an impressive 230 pins in the second game, resulting in a 396 set. Teammate Dwaine Golle tied for second place with the Angels’ Nunu Quinata. Charlie Heberle took fourth place, while Joseph Mesa and Zion Ayuyu finished fifth and sixth, sealing the Titans’ win.

The Islander boys showcased their dominance over the Knights in week three, claiming the top four positions and remained the only undefeated team in Group B.  Joevin Wolford led the charge with a 380 set, including a 223 in the second game. Following him were Stefan Azucena, Zayne Ayangco, and Christof Pineda, who held off the Knights’ top bowler, Andrew Baker, who finished in fifth place. Ayangco also posted an impressive 206 in the second game.

The SJS Lady Knights turned the tables on the boys’ fate, becoming the only undefeated team in Group B by narrowly defeating the Lady Islanders, who now stand at 2-1. Despite the Lady Islanders securing the top two positions with strong performances by Charlie Cabarles and Juliana Lagman, the Knights rallied to capture the next four spots. Olivia Lee, Ava Ouhadi, Noel Lee, and Ana-Lourdes Cook led the charge, sealing an 18-21 victory for the Lady Knights.

The Lady Titans secured their first win of the season by defeating the Lady Angels 14-22. Diana Aldan and Eyana Duenas led the charge for the Titans, with Duenas tying for second place with the Angels’ Alexa Taimanglo. Although Bethan Porter of the Angels finished fourth, the Titans’ Sarah Joy Tumamak and Kamea Alston ensured victory by closing out the match, resulting in a 14-22 win.

The Lady Eagles dominated their match against the Lady Bulldogs with a score of 10-52. The Eagles secured the top six positions, led by Paulina Yoon, who posted 305 pins. Rebecca Yu, Denise Garcia, Mitsuki Yatsuda, Kate Pedrahes, and Isabella Galsim followed in succession. The Bulldogs’ Anne Leonardo finished in seventh place.

Competition will take a week break for the Thanksgiving week and will resume on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
