AGUON, WEAKLEY SHARE SIGNING DAY

FD teammates to play college baseball in Washington

By Jay Leon Guerrero

Two Father Duenas Friar Memorial School Friars seniors held a collegiate signing day at the FD Phoenix Center Friday afternoon.

Ayden Aguon and Kaiden Baza Weakley both signed letters committing to the Big Bend Viking Baseball (BBCC) program in Washington.

“This is a special and unique occasion to have two baseball players sharing this moment,” said FD Principal Temo Perez.

“Since the age of four, I’ve played against or with Ayden,” said Weakley. “Since coming to FD together, we became brothers. We work extra hours and also put in extra work together. Im glad to be going out there together with him. “

“It’s been a goal for me to play collegiate baseball. I want to thank my parents for supporting me since I decided to play baseball,” said Weakley. Weakleys parents are Audrey Baza and Joby Okada.

“I want to thank my family for being a part of a journey from birth to this day,” said Aguon, who follows the footsteps of his father, Derwin Aguon. “They’ve allowed me to take my skills to another level and display it out for the world to see,” said Aguon. Aguon’s proud parents are also Jaineen Cruz & JQ Quintanilla.

Aguon and Weakley thanked their coaches for support and guidance. Their coaches are John G Tuquero, Joby Okada, Corey Paulino , Kevin Dirige, and Zach Muna.

“For four years, I have watched these two special athletes in this program,” said head coach John Tuquero. “They put in extra work in their game, and they also can both pitch.”

“We thank the support of the school, but we have to thank their parents. The values and the work ethic come from the home,” added Tuquero.

“Of course, I want to also thank my teammates, my brothers,” said Aguon.

Aguon and Weakley will be joining Ricardo Leon Guerrero II at BBCC on the team. “I recently saw Ricky and had the chance to spend the day with him and catch up,” said Weakley. “We are both excited to go out there and join him.”
