AU MANA CAPTURES 3RD TRITON VBALL TITLE

‘A.I.’ Chen named league MVP

PRESS RELEASE – Au Mana now has won their third Lady Triton Volleyball League Championship, 50% of the Lady Triton League championships played with a 3-1 win over the #1 Seeded Rogues on Thursday night in the UOG Calvo Field House. Guam Pro 1 defeated the Lady Bombers for 3rd Place in the opening match of the evening.

In the first match, two of the first 3 sets were classics, as the Lady Bombers won the first set 28-26 in a tough battle over the Guam Pro. But in the 2nd set, Guam Pro came back to win 25-18 to even the match at 1-1. The 3rd set was another classic, as Guam Pro 1 won the set 28-26 with both teams serving for the set, but Guam Pro coming out on top.

But the match took a strange turn, as the Lady Bombers routed Guam Pro 1 25-9 in the 4th set, to even the match at 2-2 to force the 15 point 5th set, but Guam Pro came out and dominated the final set, going up 8-4 when the teams’ changed sides and winning the set and match easily with 15-8 score in the 5th set.

Guam Pro 1 finished the season at 6-2 with their only losses to Au Mana and the Rogues. The Lady Bombers completed the season at 4-5.

In the championship match, the Rogues started off well, with Faith Piper dominating the first set with her offense, and the Rogues won the opening set 25-22. But Au Mana came back in the 2nd set and won 25-20 to even the match at 1-1.

Both teams battled in the 3rd set, but Au Mana overall attack was able to win the set 25-22 and took a 2-1 lead in sets. Au Mana came out strong in the 4th set, and was able to overcome an injury to Niesha Chen by calling a timeout and Chen was able to continue the set and Au Mana was able to win the set 25-19 and win the championship 3-1.

Au Mana claims their 3rd Lady Triton Volleyball League Championship with a 7-2 record. Au Mana lost to the Rogues and Guam Pro 1 during the regular season but made a 3-0 run in the playoff matches. The Rogues finished the season at 7-1, the best record in the league, but the Rogues almost lost in the semi-finals to the Lady Bombers, who led the semifinal match 2-0 before the Rogues came back to win the match 3-2.

After the matches, the All-League Team was announced, and the league’s Most Valuable Player was revealed:

The Lady Triton Volleyball League will return in the fall of 2025 with their next season in November.
