PRESS RELEASE – The Guam Volleyball Federation (GVBF) is excited to announce a comprehensive reboot of its national volleyball programs, both indoor and beach, as part of a long-term strategy to elevate the sport and prepare for the 2026 Micronesia Games. This initiative aims to provide more opportunities for athletes to gain international competition experience, develop through high-performance training, and build a broader coalition of players and coaches beyond the traditional national team structure.
As part of this strategic shift, GVBF will focus on a structured development approach that will prepare teams and athletes for greater success in the Micronesia Games and beyond. This new strategy will include continuous training camps, expanded competition schedules, and regional exposure to ensure Guam’s volleyball athletes are better prepared for high-level competition.
“We are committed to changing the way we develop volleyball talent on Guam,” said GVBF President Herman Ada. “Rather than only selecting national teams for isolated competitions, we are expanding opportunities for players and coaches to engage in consistent, high-level training and regional tournaments. This ensures that our athletes gain the necessary experience to compete internationally before stepping onto the national team stage.”
The new approach will support and complement GVBF clubs such as Isa/Nu Hytz, Pacific Volleyball Association (PVA), Legacy Volleyball Club (LVC), Haggan Volleyball Club, and SIFA Volleyball Club, as well as other established clubs such as Onra, Guam Professional Volleyball Club, and Hatsa. This initiative allows young athletes to gain more exposure to international play while still participating in their club environments. By integrating regional competitions, Guam can develop a stronger, deeper pool of players ready to represent the island at major events.
“This initiative is about building long-term success,” added GVBF Vice President Kaz Endo. “We are increasing the frequency of competitions and training camps to ensure that more players, not just national team members, benefit from elite-level beach and indoor volleyball experiences. Our goal is to provide the structure necessary for our athletes to thrive on the regional and global stage.”
Open tryouts for all categories—including Junior and Senior, Beach and Indoor—will begin in the coming months. While exact dates for each discipline are still being finalized, GVBF encourages all interested athletes to stay updated through its official channels. Upcoming competitions will include participation in key regional events such as the Boys Junior National Championships in Minnesota, the Oceania U19 Beach Championships in the Solomon Islands, and the Beach Pro Tour stops in the Philippines, Thailand, and Korea.
GVBF will release the full tryout schedule next week, along with additional details about each discipline’s pathway. In the meantime, athletes and coaches are encouraged to begin preparing for what promises to be an exciting new era for Guam volleyball.
