LIZAMA POWERS HILLTOPPERS TO C-USA TITLE

Guam boy doing big things in college baseball

Guam’s Ethan Lizama leads the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers to the Conference USA championship and being named tournament MVP after beating the Jacksonville State Gamecocks 6-5 in the title game on Sunday.

Batting cleanup, Lizama was on fire in the tournament with 3 home runs and 7 RBI.

It is the team’s first ever conference title and earns them a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

On the season, the senior outfielder is batting .332 with 15 HR and 60 RBI. He has hit safely in the last 12 games.

Guam Blooded: Joel Toves has signed to play college volleyball for the UC-Merced Bobcats.Toves is the son of Arianne Toves and grandson of Phillip Toves of Dededo.
Joel will be on Guam over the summer to help out with his uncle Al Garrido’s volleyball camps with the Legacy Volleyball Club.

The Agueda Johnston Pirates took the ISA Girls Middle School Basketball Championship, beating the Astumbo Dragons 33-23.
Mylie Santos led the Pirates with 18 points with Alexis Lizama adding 7 points. Astumbo’s Jaylani Quidachay with 10 points.
