MARIANAS OPEN YOUTH CAMP BUILDS NEXT GENERATION

Ove 150 athletes participate

PRESS RELEASE – The Marianas Open successfully concluded its Youth Jiu-Jitsu Training and Competition Readiness Camp, held June 23-27, 2025, at the Father Dueñas Memorial School Phoenix Center. The weeklong camp brought together over 150 young athletes, ages 5 to 13, all committed to sharpening their skills and preparing for the most anticipated Marianas Open tournament to date.

Throughout the week, participants received high-level, competition-focused training under the guidance of world-class instructors. The curriculum emphasized technical growth, competition strategy, and mindset development — all designed to elevate the professionalism and preparedness of Guam’s youth athletes as they head into the next major tournament.

“Watching these kids grow in just one week — from their focus, discipline, and technical ability — shows that Guam’s youth jiu-jitsu scene is leveling up,” said Steve Shimizu, President of the Marianas Open. “This is more than just training; it’s about raising the standard for the next generation.”

Each student was equipped with a limited-edition, competition-grade Marianas Mastery Academy no-gi uniform, symbolizing their commitment to stepping onto the mats not just as participants but as true competitors.

The camp concluded with a formal Graduation Ceremony attended by families, supporters, and media, recognizing the dedication and achievements of every student. This initiative directly feeds into the upcoming Marianas Open, which is set to be the biggest event in the tournament’s history, with Guam’s youngest competitors now more prepared than ever to take center stage with a sharpened, professional approach to competition.
