MARIANAS PRO NAGOYA EXTENDS ASIAN BJJ FOOTPRINT

Up next is the Philippines

PRESS RELEASE – The Marianas Pro Nagoya tournament delivered a masterclass in elite jiu-jitsu, drawing over 4,000 spectators and featuring 700 top-tier athletes from across Asia. As a four-star ranked event, Nagoya has solidified itself as one of the most formidable and prestigious competitions on the circuit, attracting world-class competitors from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, and beyond. Among the elite field, athletes from Guam and Brazil showcased their high-level skill and competitive spirit, reinforcing their nations’ standing in the global jiu-jitsu community.

The competition exemplified technical mastery, strategic sophistication, and resilience at every level. Each match was a testament to the rigorous preparation and dedication required to compete at this caliber, further cementing Nagoya as a battleground for the sport’s finest practitioners. One of the tournament’s most compelling moments was the participation of 65-year-old George Charfaurous of Atos Guam, who faced an equally seasoned opponent from Japan, demonstrating jiu-jitsu’s inclusivity and its capacity to unite competitors across generations.

Guam continues to assert itself as a powerhouse in international jiu-jitsu, with its athletes consistently excelling on the world stage. Through its deep ties to Marianas Pro, the island has cultivated a legacy of excellence in both competition and training, solidifying its reputation as a key force in the sport. The presence of Brazilian competitors further elevated the level of competition, underscoring the global reach and prestige of the Marianas Pro circuit.

Following the resounding success of the Nagoya event, Marianas Pro now advances to the Philippines, where an almost fully booked competition awaits. Taiwan follows, already boasting an 80% registration rate with over 750 athletes confirmed. Manila is also experiencing a surge in participation, with 500 registered competitors and growing interest.

Marianas Pro remains steadfast in its mission to elevate jiu-jitsu, providing a premier platform for athletes—particularly those from Guam—to test their abilities against world-class opposition. As the circuit continues, anticipation builds, further cementing Marianas Pro’s reputation as a leading institution in the global jiu-jitsu landscape.
