SAN NICOLAS LEADS FUETSA TO LADIES CROWN

34 points for Mia in UOG Super League championship game

PRESS RELEASE – The MVP Lady Stars came out strong, but it was Fuetsa that finished strong and took the championship of the Lady Triton Super League in the UOG Calvo Field House with a 94-77 victory on Monday night. The Stingrays Gray took the 3rd Place trophy over a determined BallHers team 79-74.

In the championship game, the MVP Lady Stars started the game with good scoring from Sazzy Quintanilla who put up 17 points in the 1st quarter and gave the Lady Stars the lead after the first 10 minutes 31-26. But Fuetsa settled down on the defensive end of the court and held the MVPs to 14 points in the 2nd period and behind 10 points from Mia San Nicolas, Fuetsa took a 51-45 lead into halftime. 

Fuetsa expanded their lead in the 3rd period, as again the Fuetsa defense held the Lady Stars to 14 points in the period while Fuetsa scored 19 in the period to take a 11 point lead in the 4th period 70-59. Fuetsa dominated the 4th quarter, outscoring the MVPs 25-17 and winning the game 94-77.

Super League MVP Mia San Nicolas lead Fuetsa with 34 points on the evening while Nicolette Perez added 15. Sazzy Quintanilla scored 27 for the MVPs but was held to 4 points in the 2nd half. Lana Quinata added 24 for the Lady Stars.

Fuetsa ended the season with a 7-0 season while the MVP Lady Stars were 5-3.

In the opener, Stingrays Gray beat BallHers 79-75 as BallHers gave the Stingrays all they wanted in the game. The game was played with small rosters, as it 6 vs. 6 for the game.

The Gray came out took the lead in the first period, 23-15 as Maria Paulino scored 10 points for the Stingrays in the period, but BallHers came right back in the 2nd quarter, outscoring the Stingrays 23-17 with Anslie Sarselejo scoring 11 for the BallHers. The Stingrays led at halftime, 40-38.

The third period was an even battle, as the Gray won the quarter 21-18 and led going the final period by 5, 61-56. The fourth period was another even battle, as BallHers outscored the Stingrays 19-18, but the Stingrays won the game by four points, 79-75.

Maria Paulino and Maya Torre led the Stingrays Gray with 21 and 20 points respectively. And the pair of Anslie Sarselejo and Shaniah Aguon led the BallHers with 23 and 22 points.

The Stingrays Gray finished the season with a 5-2 record while the BallHers fell to 3-5.

The Lady Triton Super League will play their All-Star game on Wednesday, March 19 at 7:00pm. The All-Star game will feature a 3 point shooting contest at halftime.
