The JFK Islanders Boys Team and Simon Sanchez Sharks Girls Team delivered unforgettable performances to clinch the All-Island Team Championship titles in a thrilling showdown that had spectators on the edge of their seats. This year’s tournament introduced the Baker Team format—a high-stakes structure where four bowlers rotate through a single game, each taking one frame to build a shared team score. The format emphasized unity, strategy, and execution, and both championship teams rose to the challenge with precision and poise.
In the boys division, the JFK Islanders defended their title in dramatic fashion. Their journey to the top began with a fierce semi-final battle against the fourth-seeded Okkodo Bulldogs. Despite trailing by 50 pins through seven frames in game one, the Islanders mounted a comeback fueled by a double from Leland De Vera and Zayne Ayongco. Anchor Christof Pineda sealed the win with a stunning three-strike finish, earning an eight-pin victory. Game two was equally intense, with the Bulldogs leading early before missed single-pin spares allowed the Islanders to edge ahead. Pineda’s final strike closed the match and sent the Islanders to the championship round.
The final against the third-seeded Tiyan Titans was a nail-biter. The Islanders took game one 200-179, capitalizing on early missed spares and a mid-game turkey from Pineda. Game two saw the Titans rally with a four-bagger to take a 13-pin lead after eight frames. But in a dramatic final frame, Bulldogs anchor Xavier Sablan left a 4-6-10 split, giving the Islanders a sliver of hope. Pineda responded with a clutch spare and strike, forcing Sablan to hit two pins to extend the match. His ball sailed between the pins, and the Islanders secured a 186-183 win to claim their second consecutive title. The Islanders roster featured Zayne Ayongco, Christof Pineda, Hajin Lee, and Leland De Vera, while the Titans were led by singles champion Eyan Duenas, Xavier Sablan, Robert Peredo III, and Cayden Meno.
In the girls division, the Simon Sanchez Sharks stunned the competition with a Cinderella run to the championship. The semifinals saw the top two seeds eliminated, as the Okkodo Bulldogs edged out the JFK Islanders in straight games—winning the first by 23 pins and the second by just two. Bulldogs anchor Anne Leonardo spared a 6-9 and struck in the final stanza to counter a double by Lady Islanders singles champion Charlie Cabarles. Meanwhile, the Sharks swept the Southern Dolphins with wins by 13 and 34 pins, setting up a final clash between the third and fourth seeds.
In the championship match, the Sharks kept their composure and minimized errors to outpace the Bulldogs in straight games. They won the first by 16 pins and the second by four marks, securing the coveted title. The Lady Sharks team included Nicole Herrera, Alithea Pateno, Aubrey Danila, and Isabella Poblete. The Bulldogs team featured Anne Nicole Leonardo, Janeesha Concepcion, Shaylene Navarro, Jacklyn Cuchapin, and Tiffany Tandoc.
This year’s All-Island Team Championship was a showcase of grit, teamwork, and high drama. The Baker format proved to be a game-changer, and the JFK Islanders and Simon Sanchez Sharks proved they were built for the moment. With unforgettable finishes and frame-by-frame brilliance, these teams etched their names into island sports history.
