
PRESS RELEASE – A total of 42 goals were scored in six matches on opening weekend of the 2025 Budweiser G League Saturday and Sunday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.
Defending champion Wings FC managed to stave off Quality Distributors FC 3-2 in the weekend’s closest match of the upper level Haya Division. Taiyo Kanekatsu scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 65th minute after teammate Simeon Packer scored the winning team’s first two goals in 6th and 7th minutes. Brandon Auayan and Takayuki Kobayashi scored Quality’s goals in the contest played Sunday.
In other Haya Division matches played Sunday, Bank of Guam Strykers FC blanked Omega Southern Heat 6-0 with two goals each from C.J. Sablan and Manfred Preschern. Nathaniel Graves and Aidan Dickson also scored in the win for the Strykers.
NAPA Rovers FC shut out Guam Shipyard 5-0 led by Dev Bachani’s hat trick. Justin Cruz scored both of the Rovers’ other goals.
The Guam U17 Men’s National Team won by forfeit over Sidekick SC in Sunday’s other scheduled fixture.
In Saturday’s Lagu Division matches, Hiro Asoshina, Zavier Damian, and Pele Torres each scored twice in Bank of Guam Strykers Beercelona’s 8-0 win over Dededo SC. Ian Mariano and Anthony Aguon scored Beercelona’s other goals.
Gabriel Ladonga completed late-match hat trick in four minutes to lead all scorers in Tumon Typhoons FC’s 8-0 win over Guam Shipyard II. Jaythan Martin scored twice in the win and teammates Colin Capati, Ethan Rioja, and James Trecepona contributed one goal each.
NAPA Rovers FC 2 defeated Islanders FC 7-3. Osie Cruz II and Landen Cruz each scored twice in the win and teammates Nehemiah Nauta, Cole Sablan, and Gage Cruz also scored for NAPA Rovers FC 2. Tyler Pangelinan scored twice for Islanders and teammate Patson Haimin also scored.
Budweiser G League matches continue Saturday with a trio of Lagu Division matches and Sunday with four Haya Division matches.
Islanders FC will take on Guam Shipyard II at 12 noon Saturday followed by NAPA Rovers FC 2 playing against Dededo SC at 2 p.m. The final match of the day will feature Tumon Typhoons FC against Crushers FC.
In Sunday’s matches, Quality Distributors FC will play against Omega Southern Heat at 12 noon followed by the Guam U17 Men’s National Team against Bank of Guam Strykers FC. In the day’s two 4 p.m. matches, Sidekick SC will play against NAPA Rovers FC on GFA 1 and Southern Cobras will take on Guam Shipyard on GFA 2.
