
PRESS RELEASE – The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) is proud to announce the successful completion of the Ko’ko’ Kids Fun Run, the first of the Ko’ko Weekend 2026 events held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the Governor Joseph Flores Memorial (Ypao) Beach Park.
Lieutenant Governor Joshua Tenorio kicked off the event with opening remarks, followed by race warm ups with Kika’ and Kiko’, the Ko’ko’ bird mascots and Urban Fitness’ James Sardea.
The Ko’ko’ Kids Fun Run featured three age categories: 4-6 year old, 7-9 year old, and 10-12 year old divisions, and welcomed 359 registered youth runners from Guam, Korea, Japan, the U.S., and other countries. Finishing first in their age divisions were Selah Adzhigirey (Female 4-6 year old), Ryu Anas (Male 4-6 year old), Zayla Labrunda (Female 7-9 year old), Lenox Reyes (Male 7-9 year old), Katie Adzhigirey (Female 10-12 year old), and Rio Reyes (Male 10-12 year old).

“We are thrilled to welcome international youth runners and our local community to today’s super fun, high-energy celebration of health and wellness,” stated GVB President & CEO Régine Biscoe Lee. “This impactful event not only champions athleticism and supports local businesses, but also raises crucial awareness for our Ko’ko’ bird and island conservation, reminding us that healthy living and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.”
Following the race, families enjoyed free kids activities, courtesy of GVB and event sponsors, including snow cones, kids games – corn hole, bin tossing, water pong, and giant chess from AltrxEgo, a petting zoo and carabao rides by Goats & Giggles, rockwall climbing, ”catipitter” rides and air jumping by Pit Shop, and balloon art, face painting, arts and crafts and bead/bracelet making by Lorzalyn Artistry.

Following the Ko’ko’ Kids Fun Run on Saturday, the Japanese Spring Festival Harumatsui will be held by the Japan Club of Guam in partnership with GVB for the Ko’ko’ Weekend. The Festival will take place from 2:00-9:30pm on the grounds of Gov. Joseph Flores (Ypao) Beach Park, adding a festive feel to the weekend. Island residents and visitors who attend the festivities can look forward to celebrating friendship, food, and cultural activities.
The Ko’ko’ Weekend is expected to continue as scheduled with the Half Marathon and Ekiden Relay races early tomorrow morning, Sunday, April 12, 2026.
