2014 Monster Energy Guam Motocross Championships Round 15 

Round fifteen of the fifteen round 2014 Monster Energy Guam Motocross Championships was held this past Sunday at the Guam International Raceway located off rt 15 in Yigo.

Championship hopefuls had their work cut out for them during the final round. After several weeks of rain the course for round fifteen was as tough as Mother Nature could render it with mud holes that were more like bottomless pits, ruts that were deep enough to swallow up a racer and jumps that were covered in square edged bumps making for an extremely challenging event. Adding to the tough course was the extended time that was added to each of the heats for this the final round of the championship. Riders were now required to compete in two forty five minute heats. The racing kicked off at noon with the big guns of the sport the Open Motorcycle class and continued for the rest of the day with a multiple of classes competing.

Highlights and champions are crowned

In the Open Motorcycle class reigning defending champion 17 year old JR Cepeda aboard the Cycles Plus Kawasaki sporting the number one plate led both of the extended heats to take the round win. Taking second was part time rock and roll singer Kim Aiken on his #57 Kawasaki with #100 Steve Turo taking third place. In the final overall 2014 Monster Energy Guam Motocross Championship standings #1 JR Cepeda successfully defended his title making this his third Monster Energy Guam Open Motorcycle class championship in a row. Rounding out the top 20 of the final standings in the premier class of the championship respectively were

In the Open Minibike class was Kawasaki mounted rookie sensation #11 Sasha Song at just 10 years old Sasha tore his fellow competitors up to pieces as he swept both his heats in a dominating fashion. Taking second for the final round was #8 Ry’niko Camacho on a RPM Yamaha supported Yz85 with #25 Ethan Turo taking third on his Kawasaki. In the final overall 2014 Monster Energy Guam Motocross Championship standings for the Open Minibike class #11 Sasha Song took the championship dethroning team Cycles Plus Kawasaki rider #1 Stoney Bucek who finished runner up in the championships final standings. Rounding out the top 18 of the final standings in the premier Minibike class of the championship respectively were

In the Open Atv class Cycles Plus team rider #1 Robert Bucek aboard a Suzuki Ltr450 clinched his near thirtyish overall Guam motocross championship and at over fifty years of age has no plans as of yet on ever retiring. Taking second in the championships final standings was #15 Albert Garlit on his Kawasaki Kfx450. Rounding out the top 21 of the final standings in the Open Atv class of the championship respectively were

In the Kids 65cc Minibike class #31 Robert Encina charged to a first place overall for round 15 with a solid third place finish in heat one and with a first place finish in heat two. Taking second was #50 Owen Turo with Deven Encina on the #76 Kawasaki took third.

Also being crowned champion in the 2014 Monster Energy Guam Motocross Championships were #57 Kim Aikens for the over 40 Vet class, #19 Zachary Chang in the 450cc Motorcycle class, #1 JR Cepeda in the 250cc Motorcycle class, Kids 150cc Minibike class was taken by female racer #12 Yuna Song, 85cc Kids Minibike went to #11 Sasha Song, 65cc Kids Minibike champion is #50 Owen Turo and Kids Mini atv champion is Darian Chang.

Next up for our islands motocross racers will be several stand on their own events beginning in November designed to keep every ones skills up and to introduce new riders to the sport of motocross. The 2015 championships will be once again by Monster Energy with a schedule that will include 17 rounds beginning in February and concluding in October.
