ROVERS FC GOLD WIN CO-ED MATCH

PRESS RELEASE – The Rovers FC Gold slipped past the Paintco Strykers 3-2 in Saturday’s late game of the Bud Light Masters Co-Ed Soccer League at the Guam Football Association facility in Harmon.

The Rovers FC Gold battled slippery turf conditions due to torrential rain and a stubborn Strykers defense that held the league’s second place team to a slim 1-0 lead at halftime.

The tight game continued in the deciding second half. The Rovers FC Gold’s James Oh struck first in the half, finding a gap in the Strykers’ left side defense to bring the ball up near the goal box. After moving the ball toward the right side with Strykers goalkeeper Bill Dunn mirroring his movement, Oh eventually found his shot to the left post to give his team a 2-0 advantage.
Moments later, the Strykers answered back when Kyung Shipman connected on a cross from teammate Julio Gonzales from the right side. Shipman’s shot to the right post kept the Rovers FC Gold desperate for a larger goal cushion as the game progressed.

After missing a few shot opportunities earlier in the game, the Rovers FC Gold’s Carlos Barajas finally got his share of the scoring pie with the eventual game-winning goal with a shot to the left post. Barajas and teammate Christina Duenas put pressure on the Strykers’ defender Scott Moylan near the penalty box and eventually kicked the ball loose, giving Barajas a chance at goal.http://www.bankofguam.com/personal-banking/savings/Pacific-Express-Visa-debit-card.html

A defensive mistake by the Rovers FC Gold late in the half set up Paintco’s last opportunity for a goal.

Gonzales stole the ball and took a shot to the left post for the 3-2 score.
Oh scored the lone goal in the first half with a header off a corner kick by Barajas.

In the evening’s earlier game, the Rovers FC Royal remains undefeated with a 6-2 win over Big Blue. Take Inoue scored four goals for the Rovers FC Royal and teammates Kieron Ward and Cheri Stewart scored one each. Rhoda Bamba scored Big Blue’s first goal in the 48th minute and Joseph Paulino added Big Blue’s other goal about 20 minutes later.

The Rovers FC Royal next plays the Rovers FC Gold at 6 p.m. Saturday in the battle of the league’s top two teams. Big Blue and the 4Runners play Saturday’s late game.
