PRESS RELEASE – The ninth round of the twelve round Monster Energy Guam Motocross Championships was held this past Sunday at the Guam International Raceway in Yigo. With another strong showing of family, friends, and fans Guam’s top motocross riders lined up for the start in their respective two and four wheeled classes for an entire day of hard fought racing.
Highlights
Open Motorcycle Class
In the Open Motorcycle class #1 JR Cepeda aboard the Johnstone Supplies supported Cycles Plus Kawasaki was once again to fast for the rest of the field to keep up with. Cepeda easily out distanced himself from the rest of the contenders to take the round nine win. Placing second was Yamaha mounted #3 Jacob Einloth with #98 Marshal Vawter jr taking third. Rounding out the top five respectively were #73 Gary Camacho on his Yamaha and #15 Matt Guzman on a Honda.

In the Kids Open Minibike class #17 Rowen Pereira on his Honda along with #14 Andrew Ignacio aboard a Yamaha jumped out to an early lead dicing for the top spot and keeping family, fans and supporters on their feet. Behind the two leaders was a battle for third through sixth place with #2 Stoney Bucek on the Cycles Plus Kawasaki in third, #8 Ethan Camacho racing a Yamaha holding down fourth, #111 Ethan Manibusan on a Honda and #12 Sasha Song aboard a Kawasaki all battling for position right on the rear fender of Bucek. Camacho eventually made a mistake and went down which had allowed the #11 of Sasha Song to get by. Near the finish of the race the #14 machine of Andrew Ignacio suffered from a mechanical issue causing him to withdraw from the battle with Pereira for the win. Bucek inherits the second place position while Song takes over third. At the checkers it was the #17 Honda ridden by Rowen Pereira taking the round nine win with Bucek in second and Song in third. Rounding out the rest of the field respectively were #111 Ethan Manibusan Honda, #8 Ethan Camacho Yamaha, #12 Yuna Song Kawasaki, #88 Ry’niko Camacho Kawasaki, #25 Ethan Turo Kawasaki, #14 Andrew Ignacio Yamaha, #13 Franklin Perez Suzuki, #50 Owen Turo Honda, #4 Tobin Perez Kawasaki, and #24 Ray Manibusan on a Honda.
#17 Rowen Pereira who was tied in the championship points took a five valuable championships points lead over the Cycles Plus Kawasaki rider Stoney Bucek. With three more rounds left in the series the championship may just come down to that final round in August.
Open ATV Class
In the Open Atv class #1 Robert Bucek on the Cycles Plus Suzuki took the win over #66 Jeric Johnson on a Yamaha and the #666 Yamaha of Deven Manibusan. With Open Atv class championship points leader Ray Manibusan deployed off island for round nine Bucek was able to gain 25 points on Manibusan’s championship points lead. Manibusan still leads with 301 points to Buceks 297 points.
Kids Mini ATV Class
Jesse Leon Guerrero aboard the #75 Drx was on his game as he took the win over the #13 Drx of Bernabe Guerrero in second and the Drx of Emma Song who place third. Rounding out the top five respectively were the Honda machines of Darian Chang and Damian Manibusan. Collin Ray Cruz still leads the championship points but several riders are closing into what was once a two race lead in points. Cruz has 291 points with Manibusan with 254 and both Song and Leon Guerrero with 253 points.
