60 CROSSFITTERS SWEAT THROWDOWN

Forty men and 20 women participated in Day 1 of the Marianas Throwdown Crossfit competition at the Chamorri Crossfit Gym in Tamuning Saturday afternoon.

The top 25 men advanced to Day 2 while all 20 women move on as well.

Three individuals represented GetFit CNMI: Joey Tudela, Salvi Villanueva and Nicole Harkness. In fact, Villanueva sits in third place in the men’s division after the first day.

Six of Guam’s Boxes were represented: Chamorri Crossfit, Crossfit Latte Stone, Crossfit Andersen, Crossfit Hita, Crossfit Gof Metgot and Crossfit Unified.

Three WOD’s are scheduled for Sunday to see who’s the fittest in the Marianas. WOD 1 starts at 8 am, WOD 2 is at 10:30 am and the final WOD is slated for 2 pm.

Guam’s Wayne Blas completed his 13th Boston Marathon and 38th marathon overall.
The island’s record holder in the distance, Blas finished this year in 2:35:21.
“I’m very happy with this result because seven months ago, I was sidelined with a stress fracture that kept me out for three months. No running! To come back on an abbreviated marathon build and finish one of the toughest races strong and healthy was a big win for me.”
His time of 2:29:38 at the 2023 Chicago Marathon and World Marathon Majors Age Group Championships stands as the Guam National Record.
