
Amigos and Braves stay unbeaten in Amateurs
Week two Budweiser Amateur Baseball action finished up with only two teams in the nine team league remaining unbeaten. The Chalan Pago Amigos kept their perfect record intact with a 9-4 win over Sakudee and the Sumay Braves downed the Talofofo Rangers 11-4 to improve their record to 2-0.
Young gun Daniel Panaguiton went the first three innings and gave way to Paul Campos who closed out the Rangers over the final four frames to secure the Amigos win and improve to 2-0 on the season. Alan Quintanilla and Pete Castro Jr each had 3 rbi to collect Strike Zone Player of the Game honors. Jesse Bamba was 1 for 2 with an rbi in the loss for Sakudee who even their record at 1-1.
The Braves offense continues to stay hot pounding out 12 hits in their 11-4 win over the Rangers. Will Perez turned in a web gem superman-like catch in left field and was 2 for 3 with two rbi at the plate to pick up SZPOG. Vicente Quenga came out of the bullpen to go seven innings to notch the win. Shawn Santos was 2 for 3 with two runs for the Rangers who drop to 0-2 on the season.
In other action, the defending Amateur champion Vipers dropped their first game of the season 7-2 to the Redhawks on Saturday. The Redhawk’s Tristan Aguerro went six strong innings allowing five hits with eight strikeouts to get SZPOG. Redhawks improve to 1-1 on the season.
The Vipers would bounce back with a weekend doubleheader on Sunday night holding on for the 7-5 win over the Guahan Soldiers to even their record at 1-1. Devin Fernandez would pick up the win and Steve Diego was 2 for 4 and would close out the Soldiers in the 7th inning to get the save and SZPOG. Ray Leon Guerrero would go the distance for the Soldiers allowing only 4 earned runs but is tagged with the loss as Guahan Soldier drops to 0-2 on the season.
The Barrigada Crusaders picked up their first win of the season with an 11-5 win over the Agat Cardinals. Kel Franicisco was 2 for 3 with a run and two rbi and Kin Fernandez Jr was 2 for 4 with two doubles and two rbi to share player of the game for the Crusaders who even their record at 1-1.
