Guahan Soldier(1-2) picked up their first win of the young Budweiser Amateur Baseball League season with a 10-1 drubbing of the Agat Cardinals(1-2).

Guahan Soldier(1-2) picked up their first win of the young Budweiser Amateur Baseball League season with a 10-1 drubbing of the Agat Cardinals(1-2).  Larry Bombon held down the young Cardinal bats going seven innings allowing only four hits for the win and Strike Zone Player of the Game.  Ariel Apiag scored three runs and Mateo blas was 2 for 2 with an rbi double to lead the Soldier offense.

In the Saturday nightcap the Chalan Pago Amigos improved to 3-0 with a come from behind 11-7 win over the Barrigada Crusaders (1-2). The Castro brothers carried the Amigos with Ryan 4 for 4 with 2 rbi, Pete 2 for 5 with 3 rbi and Jason Castro 3 for 3 with the go ahead two rbi double in the 7th inning.   The Amigo’s Paul Campos improved to 2-0 on the season with the complete game win.

In Sundays opening game the Talofofo Rangers (1-2) won their first game of the season holding on for a 14-11 win over the Yona Redhawks(1-2).  Fernando Rabago was 3 for 3 with three runs, four rbi, three stolen bases and the save on the mound to pick up player of the game.  Vandrew Naputi was 3 for 3 with two doubles and a triple in the Redhawks loss.

In other action the Vipers (2-1) knocked off Sakudee(1-2) 8-5 to improve to 2-1 on the season.  Fred Malaca was 3 for 3 to nab SZ Player of the Game and Brandon Unpingco.

Undefeated Chalan Pago Amigos (3-0) and Sumay Braves (2-0) got three innings in before rain suspended play with the Braves leading 7-4. To be continued at a later date.

Guam’s Wayne Blas completed his 13th Boston Marathon and 38th marathon overall.
The island’s record holder in the distance, Blas finished this year in 2:35:21.
“I’m very happy with this result because seven months ago, I was sidelined with a stress fracture that kept me out for three months. No running! To come back on an abbreviated marathon build and finish one of the toughest races strong and healthy was a big win for me.”
His time of 2:29:38 at the 2023 Chicago Marathon and World Marathon Majors Age Group Championships stands as the Guam National Record.
