NATIONAL GUARD 5K RUN ON JULY 8

National Guard 5K coming soon

The Guam National Guard (GUNG) will celebrate its 36th Anniversary with its Annual Taotaomona 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, July 8.  
This year’s theme is Diversity is Our Strength, Family is Our Value to stress the importance of family support, diversity and resiliency to the success of our Guard mission.
This year’s Guam Guard 5K run/walk will begin and end at the Guam Premiere Outlets in Tamuning.  Public parking is available throughout the GPO.   Show time is 5 a.m., Zumba Warm-up is at 5:45 a.m. and 6 a.m. is GO time.
Dri-fit shirts are available to the first 1,500 registered finishers.   Refreshments will be available and awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in eight age divisions, including the new addition of a Stroller Division.  Raffle prizes, including two round trip tickets, courtesy of Delta Airlines, will be available for all registered participants.
Interested runners can register at the Guam National Guard’s Readiness Center in Barrigada, the Air Guard facilities on Andersen Air Force Base, Goody’s Sporting Goods in Upper Tumon and Mark’s Hardware in Anigua for $10 per person or $40 for a family of 5.  Race day registration is $15 per person.
All proceeds benefit the Guard’s Family Readiness Groups.

The public is requested to please drive cautiously as the inner lane of course route, from the entrance of GPO on Chalan San Antonio, Marine Corps Drive, Governor Carlos Camacho (Hospital) Road, and Farenholt Avenue will be closed from 5 a.m. until about 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 8.

QUICK HITS

Guam national golf team player Aki Matsuno secured second place at the FCG Hawaii World Series championship.

Matsuno’s second place finish earned him an invitation to compete in the FCG Junior Golf Championship to be held in July 2025.

A junior at St. John’s, he is also currently leading the IIAAG high school All-Island golf competition, chasing the coveted individual high school golf title.

Guam Blooded: College freshman Brianne Graves is currently ranked 5th in the nation in the 103-lb DI women’s wrestling rankings. She just beat the defending All-American.
Bri finished high school in Cincinnati, ranked #2 in the nation before signing with North Central College, which is one of the top wrestling teams in the country.
Her Evangelista grandparents are originally from Yigo.
