PRESS RELEASE – The University of Guam’s Triton Athletics sponsored the IIAAG High School Girls Basketball All-star Game on Wednesday night in the UOG Calvo Field House with “Team Two” coming out on top 42-41 over “Team One” in a hard fought battle that featured some laughs, some competition and 4 time outs called in the last 7 seconds of the game.

Mia San Nicolas, the MVP of the All-Island team from the Academy of Our Lady of Guam, led all scorers with 14 points for Team One, while Elysia Perez from Notre Dame High School, scored 13 points for Team Two.

The game featured 21 of the 26 players selected to play in the All-Star game and no other players scored more than 6 points in the game, but 19 of the 21 players scored on the night.

UOG Athletic Director Doug Palmer was very happy with the game, “It was a great game, one team had a big lead in the first half, then the other team came back, the 2nd team had a big lead in the 2nd half and the other team came back. We gave a chance for teammates during the year to battle each other tonight and I think the young ladies had a great time with a close and exciting ending to the game.

Triton Athletics has now sponsored both Girls Volleyball and Girls Basketball All-Star games in the fall, with plans of hosting a Boys Basketball and Boys Volleyball All-Star games in the spring.
