COUGARS TAKE RIVALRY MATCH IN 4 SETS

Academy controls Notre Dame

Wendy’s Players of the Game Mendiola-Cruz and De Vera

The biggest girls volleyball rivalry commenced once again Tuesday night as the Academy Cougars held off the Notre Dame Royals 25-11, 25-13, 21-25, 26-24 in the IIAAG Girls Volleyball League in Hagatna.

While the St. John’s Knights are rolling at 6-0 and the Harvest Eagles right behind at 5-1, the two archrivals were battling it out in the middle of the standings to stay relevant.

After two fairly easy sets and looking for a sweep, the Cougars dropped a close third set before closing out an exciting 4th set 26-24.

With the win, the Cougars stay in 3rd place in the league at 4-2 while the Royals struggles continue at 2-4.
