EPIC KO’KO’ RACE WEEKEND FOR INTERNATIONAL AND LOCAL RUNNERS

606 runners show out for GVB’s signature Koko Race Weekend

The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) and the Guam Running Club (GRC) completed a monumental Ko’Ko’ Race weekend with 606 runners participating in the 10K and Half Marathon Races sprinting into Governor Joseph Flores Memorial Park (Ypao Beach) this morning for the 14th annual Ko’Ko’ Road Race.

Taking the overall top spot in the 10K race was South Korea’s Jisub Kim at 34 minutes and 17 seconds. In second place was Ryan Matienzo with a time of 37:19 and for third was Rynier Di Ramos who finished in 41:32.

For the women’s 10K division, Guam’s Keira Paz secured the top runners spot with a time of 43 minutes and 10 seconds. In second place was Yumika Sugahara completing the course at 43:43 and in third place was South Korea’s Lim Hye Park at 44:11.

Coming in hot for the overall top spot in the half marathon race was Canada’s Journey Campbell finishing the 13.1 miles course at 1 hour 15 minutes and 40 seconds. Second to Campbell was Derek Mandell at 1:28:07 and in third was David Perry at 1:29:01.

For the women’s half marathon division, Japan’s Sachi Uozumi crossed the finish line at 1 hour 33 minutes and seven seconds. Right behind Uozumi was Guam’s Virginie Ternisien at 1:36:19 and in third place was Hana Lee finishing at 1:40:20.

GVB and GRC ended the Ko’Ko’ Road Race weekend with a bang hosting the Ko’Ko’ and Chill “After Party” for all participating runners and the public with free parking at the John F. Kennedy High School parking lot and shuttles down to Ypao Beach for an afternoon filled with food trucks, live entertainment, and kids activities to close out their annual signature event!
