HAWKS ARE DOUBLE CHAMPS OF MIDDLE SCHOOL TRACK & FIELD

FBLG sweeps both boys and girls championships

The FBLG Hawks celebrated a double championship winning the Boys and Girls ISA Middle School Track and Field Championships Saturday afternoon at the JFK Track.

Girls results
Leiyanah Santos put on a show at the all-island event, winning four gold medals for the FBLG Hawks. Santos won the 200, 400, 800, and 1500 meter races. The eighth grader was crucial to the Hawks and their championship, giving FBLG much needed points to hold off the Dragons.

Santos saved her best day on the track for last, running her personal record (PR) times in the 400, 800, and 1500 meter races.

Tiana Vasquez-Bilon, an eighth grader representing the Astumbo Dragons, won three gold medals. Vasquez-Bilon shined in the sprinting events with victories in the 60, 100, and 4×100 meter events.

Alissa Anulao won gold in the Discus event and bronze in the Shot Put for FBLG. Chloe Cunanan and Mika Borja went 1-2 in the Shot Put for the Roadrunners. Cheylie Jo Gumabon from Oceanview won the long jump with a distance of 3.79 meters.

Boys results
Untalan Wildcat Daniel Salas won the sprinting events with victories in the 60 and 100 meter events. Salas also helped anchor the Wildcats 4×100 meter relay team to a silver medal. Zaiden Paulino, also representing the Wildcats, won the 800 and 1500 meter events.

Scott Cawagas and Tristan Park from the Hawks won the 200 and 400 meter events, respectively. FBLG’s Jeremy Salinas recorded his PR in the Long Jump with a distance of 5.15 meters to win gold.

The closest event was in the boys’ Shot Put. Caleb Pasana from FBLG out-distanced Jacob Flores from Untalan by .01 meters. Pasana threw for 10.13 meters to win Gold, Flores threw for 10.12 to settle for the silver medal.

The boys’ Discus event was not as close with Astumbo’s Skyler Villagomez winning the event by over two meters with a distance of 29.98 meters.

Guam Blooded: Ethan Toves Maddies has signed to play D1 baseball for the College of The Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts on a full ride scholarship.
He is the son of proud parents Macky and Yvette Toves Maddies of Los Alamitos, California, grandson of Juan and Maria Toves+ formerly of Ordot/Barrigada Guam and Godson of Anthony and AnnMarie Toves of Ordot, Guam.

The All-Tournament selection were Zhion Macapinlac JFK, Darwin Ecijan JFK, Matthew Quinata Southern, and Malcom Fernandez Tiyan.

JFK’s Collin Rillamas was named tournament MVP.
