SELECT BJJ TEAM TO REPRESENT GUAM IN CEBU

Three Marianas Open champions to roll

PRESS RELEASE – The Marianas Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship proudly announces the formation of Team Guam Select, an elite team set to represent Guam at the ASJJF ART Philippines Superfight Competition on November 17, 2024, in Cebu. Selected by Marianas Open founder Steve Shimizu, Team Guam Select features three of Guam’s top Black Belt athletes: Led by Guam Team Captain Anthony Cruz of Carlson Gracie Guam, Noberto Rosario from Figo-Bonsai Guam, and Lloyd Cubacub of Atos Jiu-Jitsu Guam.

This groundbreaking initiative marks the first time the Marianas Open has assembled a team to compete internationally under the ASJJF banner. With ASJJF bringing some of the world’s finest talents to the Philippines, this inaugural event presents a unique platform for Guam’s champions to showcase their abilities and compete against the best.

Three Guam select athletes will be competing in Cebu this weekend, as picked by Marianas Open founder Steve Shimizu. (L-R): Lloyd Cubacub, Shimizu, Norberto Rosario and Anthony Cruz.

“Each of these athletes embodies the spirit and resilience of the Marianas Open,” said Shimizu. “They will carry our island’s flag with pride, and we are confident that they’ll represent Guam with excellence and determination.”
