Cubacub, Quintanilla set to grapple in Hawaii’s Submission Battlegrounds

PRESS RELEASE – Atos Guam Jiu-Jitsu Academy proudly announces that two of its remarkable athletes, Professor Lloyd Cubacub, a seasoned Black Belt competitor, and Gonzalo Quintanilla, an exceptional Purple Belt competitor, have been invited to compete at the prestigious Submission Battlegrounds in Honolulu, Hawaii.

This exclusive, invite-only superfight event will take place on February 1, 2025, at the Honolulu Convention Center, a premier venue known for hosting world-class international events. Submission Battlegrounds is a celebrated stage for elite grapplers to demonstrate their skills and compete at the highest level. This year’s event boasts a stellar lineup of world-renowned athletes, including legends such as Barrett Yoshida, Bruno Pucci, and Andy Varela, promising a night of unforgettable competition.

Representing Guam:

  • Professor Lloyd Cubacub will face Thang Nguyen, a highly skilled Black Belt competitor, in an
    eagerly anticipated Black Belt bout.
  • Coach Gonzalo Quintanilla will test his skills against Andrew Ramirez, further highlighting Guam’s
    exceptional talent in the grappling world.
    Accompanying the athletes is Professor Michael Carbullido, who continues to inspire and lead the
    Atos Guam Jiu-Jitsu Academy community with unwavering dedication and expertise.

Speaking on the importance of this event, Professor Michael Carbullido shared: “The invitation to Submission Battlegrounds is a testament to the resilience and talent of our athletes.
