CAMACHO, PANGELINAN WIN KIDS TRIATHLON

12-year-olds come out on top

PRESS RELEASE – The Guam Triathlon Federation (GTF) hosted its Kids Triathlon on Sunday, August 31, 2025, an exciting event showcasing the energy, endurance, and spirit of Guam’s young athletes. Proudly sponsored by Cars Plus, the triathlon brought together youth ages 8 through 15, giving them the opportunity to test their endurance and embrace the fun of multi-sport competition. 

The event featured a 200 meter open water swim, 8K bike, and 1.5K run course designed to challenge participants while ensuring a safe and supportive environment. Families and spectators gathered along the course to cheer on competitors, creating an atmosphere of encouragement at Hoover Park in Piti, formerly known as USO.

Congratulations are in order for the overall winners in the Boys and Girls divisions:

Tanom Camacho, 12 yrs, 1st Place Male with a time of 28:20
Blake Whitaker, 13 yrs, 2nd Place Male, 29:38
Matua Camacho, 10 yrs, 3rd Place Male, 33:15

Ella Pangelinan, 12 yrs, 1st Place Female, 36:13
Lyndon Fulkerson-Smith, 12 yrs,  2nd Place Female, 39:31
Teagan Johnston,  9 yrs, 3rd Place Female, 39:35

“This year’s Kids Triathlon was a big success,” said Mark Cruz, President of GTF.  “These young athletes demonstrated determination, sportsmanship, and joy throughout the event. We are grateful to Cars Plus for their sponsorship, which helps us continue to grow youth participation in the sport of triathlon here on Guam. Congratulations to all our brave athletes today!”

QUICK HITS

Guam’s top female golfer Tyanna Jacot has committed to play D1 golf with the San Jose State Spartans next school year. Jacot left Guam after her sophomore high school year to pursue her golf dreams. She currently is a senior at Torrey Pines High School where they look to defend the California state championship.
