The Notre Dame Royals capped off their fourth straight High School Girls Wrestling championship after a day filled of matches on Saturday at the Tiyan Gym.
The boys championship, however, is still up in the air.
The Guam High Panthers seemed to have ended the Father Duenas Friars’ reign as kings of the high school wrestling mats, even celebrating as champions late into the night.
But miscalculation of team points may sway the results. League officials having been going back-and-forth on the issue since Saturday night, and as of Monday afternoon, reports have that a league meeting will be held Tuesday evening to sort out the details.
If the win upholds, Guam High would snap FD’s eight-year stronghold.
The Panthers had the best regular season record, and after a long Christmas break, they were hoping to keep the momentum going as the final meet was the last 2nd Quarter sport to conclude.
Victor Babauta (160 lbs), Christopher Angoco (152 lbs), Kai Duenas (145 lbs) and Alan Santiago (113 lbs) were the four studs that led Guam High as all four finished the season undefeated.
Other wrestlers who finished unbeaten were: FD’s Caiden Alferos (132 lbs), Tiyan’s Christian Valencia (132 lbs), Southern’s Tristan Acfalle (170 lbs) and GW’s Rayn Rios (196 lbs).

ROYALS STILL QUEENS OF THE MATS
Notre Dame continued its dominance, winning its 4th straight crown led by head coach Leo Tudela and assisted by Aliana Eclavea.
Alieah Garrido capped off a perfect season with a big win in the 107 lbs division. Cadence Horton (126 lbs), Kayla McIntosh (155 lbs), Aveyani Babauta (184 lbs) and Khloe Blas (235 lbs) were instrumental in the Royals’ lock on first place as they took their respective divisions.
Other than Garrido, Southern’s Skylar Nangauta (143 lbs) and JFK’s Dina Soriano (168 lbs) also finished the season undefeated.
