YOUNG PVA PROVES WORTH IN LADY TRITON VOLLEYBALL

PRESS RELEASE – The Lady Triton Volleyball League is ruled by the young, as the Pacific Volleyball Academy wins the Triton League with a 3-2 win over Guam Pro on Tuesday night in the UOG Calvo Field House.

Pacific Volleyball Academy and Guam Pro are the two youngest teams in the Lady Triton Volleyball League, but Guam Pro had their coach playing for them, as Coach Oksana Chernyshova, a former international professional player, played in the match.

But Pacific has Lea Aromin, a junior from Academy of the Lady of Guam, and has become a feared hitter in the Triton League and led Pacific VB Academy. Pacific VB Academy won the Triton League in their first season in the Lady Triton Volleyball League. 

Pacific won the first set of the match, 25-21, with Chernyshova sitting on the beach.

But Guam Pro, with Chernyshova playing in both sets, won the 2nd and 3rd sets by the score of 25-22 in both sets. Pacific came back in the 4th set and won 25-18 and the match was even at 2 sets each.

The match went to a 15 point 5th set and Guam Pro started off strong and took a 8-5 lead when teams switched sides of the court, and were leading 10-8 when Alina Torres came to serve for Pacific Academy and Torres proceeded to serve 7 straight points, many of which were aces, to win the set 15-10 and the match, 3-2 for Pacific.

Pacific finished the season at 5-3 and were 2-3 after the regular season ended and were the 4th seed in the playoffs. But Pacific VB Academy won 3 straight matches in the. playoffs, to include wins over the Lady Bombers, the Rogues (#1 Seed in the Playoffs and undefeated team) and Guam Pro. Guam Pro finished the season at 4-4 and finished the regular season at 2-3 as well, but defeated the Lady Tritons and Au Mana, 4 time champions of the of the Triton League before losing the championship match.

The Lady Triton Volleyball League announced a 16 member All-League Team after the match concluded:
