LEGACY SPIKEFEST KICKS OFF WITH 77 TEAMS

PRESS RELEASE – The 2026 Legacy SpikeFest Volleyball Tournament opens tonight, launching more than a week of high-energy volleyball action featuring 77 teams across nine divisions, making it one of the largest volleyball tournaments ever held on Guam.

Hosted by Legacy Volleyball Guam, SpikeFest runs January 26 through February 8, with weekday matches taking place at iLearn Academy Charter School and Sunday competition hosted at Dededo Sports Complex. The tournament brings together athletes ranging from elementary beginners to elite adult competitors, creating a true island-wide celebration of the sport.

This year’s field includes 12 Middle School Girls (14U) teams, 6 Middle School Boys teams, 9 Women’s 18U teams, 12 Men’s 18U teams, and a deep adult field featuring 8 Open Co-Ed teams, 9 Competitive Recreational Co-Ed teams, and 12 Recreational Co-Ed teams. Youth participation continues to grow as well, with 4 Elementary Competitive (6v6) teams and 5 Elementary Beginner (4v4) teams taking part.

Tournament organizers emphasized that SpikeFest is designed to balance competition and community, offering meaningful match play while welcoming families, first-time athletes, and seasoned veterans alike.

“SpikeFest has become more than just a tournament — it’s a reflection of how strong and connected the volleyball community on Guam really is,” said Natasha Garrido, coach and organizer with Legacy Volleyball. “From our youngest players stepping on the court for the first time to our experienced athletes competing at a high level, this event is about growth, opportunity, and bringing people together through volleyball.”

Fans can expect fast-paced matches nightly, with the tournament building toward “Golden Sunday,” when many of the Gold Medal Finals will be decided at Dededo Sports Complex. Championship brackets across multiple divisions are scheduled to conclude that day, showcasing the top teams from throughout the tournament.

Spectators are welcome at all venues. Admission is $2 for adults and students, $1 for seniors (55+), and free for children four and under. Concessions will be available, with food and refreshments sold throughout the event. Organizers encourage fans to arrive early, as games may begin ahead of schedule depending on match flow.

With packed gyms, full brackets, and volleyball action nearly every day, SpikeFest 2026 continues to cement its place as a cornerstone event for the sport on Guam.
