MOTOCROSS ROUND 3 KICKS UP BAKED TRACK

PRESS RELEASE – Round 3 of the 2026 Monster Energy Guam Motocross Championships held this past Sunday saw tough conditions with a course that was a baked hard packed this made for a choppy and very slick racing surface just as it was for round 2 making for another challenging round of close and thrilling motocross racing. The Tebo Motocross Park in the village of Yona was once again the perfect venue for the many families and race supporters on hand to get up close to witness all the thrills and spills.

Motocross on Guam is a family sport in which the entire family is involved in the event with championship classes that include several kids mini bike and mini atv classes best suited for any ones particular skill level. As of late a fresh crop of new rookies have joined the championship. Other classes included and ranged from the kids 65cc and 85cc classes all the way up to the Open ATV and Open Motorcycles which saw the older crowd participating in. 

Round 3 was a triple crown which meant each class would be racing three times and be awarded points according to their finish for each of the three races known also as heats or motos to determine their overall standing for the round. Each weekend championship round is then accumulated and at the end of the championship series the rider with the highest point total is crowned a champion in that particular class.

In the premier Open Motorcycle class in all three heats the reigning multi time champion #1 JR Cepeda was a force of nature as he and his Kawasaki left the field chocking in his dust making the brutal course look to easy. Taking a solid second was current points leader #31 Richard Wenden aboard a Rocky Mountain Precast KTM. Taking the final step on the podium was #3 Tim Wenden also aboard a Rocky Mountain Precast supported Ktm. Rounding out the top five were #85 Cyclesplus Kawasaki rider Blaze Aiken and #18 Little John Aguon also aboard a Cycles Plus Kawasaki taking fourth and fifth respectively. Richard Wenden currently still maintains the lead in the championship standings with 206 points. JR Cepeda is in second in the championship standings with 198 points just 8 points from the lead. #3 Tim Wenden with his consistency currently sits in third in the championship  standings with 178 points. Blaze Aiken sits in fourth with 170 points.  #18 Little  Jon  Aguon sits in fifth in the championship standing with 152 points.

In the premier Open Atv class the action was close with two of our islands top atv racers running wheel to wheel on their way around the bump filled course. Taking the overall was reigning champion Rob Bucek aboard a CyclesPlus Suzuki ltr450 with #19 Jonathan Aguon on a Suzuki ltr450 taking second. Bucek currently leads in the championship standings with 165 points. #2 John Gilman on a Yamaha Yfz450  sits in second in points with 124 points. #9 Camillo Lorenzo on his Yamaha Yfz450 sits in third with 112 points followed by #7 Gavin Lorenzo in fourth with 92 points. #19 Jonathan Aguon sits fifth with 22 points.

The Schoolboy combined with the Novice class had #8 Jonboy Agoun sweeping all three heats for the overall in both the Schoolboy and Novice classes. Taking second was #11 Leo Limtiaco. Taking third in the Novice class was #13 William Mooney followed by #46 James Atalig and #88 Terrance Gabutin respectively.

In the Over 40 Vet class #505 Justin Chinana took the overall round win over #77 Gregorio Perez who was followed by the Overall winner in the over 55 Legends class #75 Jeffro Rios and 2^nd place finisher #101 Rob Bucek who was taking up racing on both motorcycles and atvs this season.

The kids minibike and kids mini atv classes were as it had before a crowd favorite as friends and family become quite vocal cheering and waving their arms to help inspire their friend, brother, sister or child on. The racing is always exciting and the young guns always give it a 100 percent.

 In the 65cc class round 3 had #38 Jayce Mantanona take the win with #31 Jenna Wenden in second. Taking third was # 111 Mazzy Chinana.

The 85cc class had Aiden Mantanona taking 1^st with Elias SanNicolas in 2^nd. Third place was #18 Dominic Padrones.

The Mini Atv class #93 Tyler Onedera took the overall win.

The racing was all finished late Sunday afternoon to a cool southern mountain breeze and the undeniably mouth watering sweet smell of marinated meats on the barbecues.
