OFF-ROADERS PUSH LIMITS IN MOTOCROSS ROUND 2

PRESS RELEASE – Round 2 of the 2026 Monster Energy Guam Motocross Championships this past Sunday saw dry dusty conditions with a course that was hard packed, choppy and very slick making for a brutal day of bar banging motocross. The Tebo Motocross Park in the village of Yona was the perfect venue for the many families and race supporters on hand with easy access to many great viewing spots to witness all the days action 

Motocross on Guam is a family sport in which the entire family is involved with championship classes to include kids mini bike and mini atv classes that has seen a fresh crop of new rookies racing in their first championship series season. Other classes included and ranged from the kids 65cc and 85cc classes all the way up to the Open ATV and Open Motorcycles which saw the older crowd participating in. 

Round 2 was a triple crown which meant each class would be racing three times and be awarded points according to their finish for each of the three races known also as heats or motos to determine their overall standing for the round. Each weekend championship round is then accumulated and at the end of the championship series the rider with the highest point total is crowned a champion in that particular class.

In the premier Open Motorcycle class young Richard Wenden has brought the excitement of motocross to whole other level with a give no quarter unapologetic, on the edge style aboard his #31 Rocky Mountain Precast Ktm. The young Wenden along with the Guam reigning and multi time champion #1 JR Cepeda aboard his Kawasaki took to each of the three heats on a mission to destroy the rest of the field. It was terrifying at times as the two front runner bumped and banged. It was inevitable that one if not both were going to end up tasting the dirt at the intensity they were running. Sure enough in an attempted block pass they came together with both rider and machine cart wheeling and flying off the course in a spine tingling fashion that had everyone gasping. Fortunately both were able to remount relatively unhurt.

At the end of the three heats it was the Ktm of Richard Wenden with the win making him undefeated so far after two rounds. Richard Wenden currently  leads the championship standings with 140 points. #3 Tim Wenden with his strong consistency took second overall aboard his Rocky Mount Precast Ktm and currently sits in third in the championship  standings with 120 points. Third overall for the round was #85 Cyclesplus rider Blaze Aiken aboard a Kawasaki. Blaze sits in fourth with 117 points. Reigning champ Jr Cepeda despite the big crash took fourth in the round but sits in second in the standings with 123 points. #18 Little  Jon  Aguon rounded out the top five and also sits in fifth in the championship standing with 104 points.

In the premier Open Atv class the action was intense as several of our islands top atv racers banged bars and rubbed wheels as they fought their way around the course. Taking the overall was reigning champion Rob Bucek aboard a CyclesPlus Suzuki ltr450 with a 2,1,1 finish in his three heats. Bucek currently leads in the championship standings with 140 points. Taking 2^nd overall was #2 John Gilman on a Yamaha Yfz450 with a 3,3, and 2 finish in the three heats and sits in second in points with 124 points. 3^rd overall was taken by #9 Camillo Lorenzo on his Yamaha Yfz450 who sits in third with 112 points followed by #7 Gavin Lorenzo in 4^th.

The Schoolboy combined with the Novice class had #8 Jonboy Agoun sweeping all three heats for the overall in both the Schoolboy and Novice classes. Taking second was #11 Leo Limtiaco with #31 Mariana Wenden in third. 

In the Over 40 Vet class #505 Justin Chinana took the overall round win over #77 Gregorio Perez who was followed by the Overall winner in the over 55 Legends class #75 Jeffro Rios and 2^nd place finisher #101 Rob Bucek who was taking up racing on both motorcycles and atvs this season.

The kids minibike and kids mini atv classes were as it had before a crowd favorite as friends and family become quite vocal cheering and waving their arms to help inspire their friend, brother, sister or child on. The racing is always exciting and the young guns always give it a 100 percent.

 In the 65cc class round 2 had #38 Jayce Mantanona take the win with # 111 Mazzy Chinana in second. 

The 85cc class had Aiden Mantanona taking 1^st with Elias SanNicolas in 2^nd. 

The Mini Atv class #93 Tyler Onedera took the overall win but had his hands full with  racer #10 Giancarlo Lorenzo who took second overall.

The racing wrapped up late Sunday afternoon to a cool breeze and that sweet smell of marinated meats on the barbecues and with the kids that never seem to get tired climbing and exploring the now quite race track giving parents once again a chance to relax, catch their breath under their canopies and enjoy another great day of Monster Energy Guam Motocross Championsh racing.the days action with friends and family. Up next for our islands motocross racers will be the much anticipated Humatak Heritage Day Motocross on Sunday March 1^st. The motocross runs in conjunction with the Southern Village of Humatak Heritage Day festivities. It’s an all day event and the entire island is invited and encouraged not to miss it.
