The early bird usually catches the worm, but the best eyes and fastest spears caught the fish Saturday morning as divers flooded the waters around the Agana Boat Basin for the 2013 Mariana’s Spearfishing Challenge.
The event concluded at 3 p.m. as spear-fishers weighed in their catches and were evaluated into six different divisions. The team of Ken Quan and Gavin Simmons brought in biggest fish of the challenge. a 36.25 lb. Tanguison/Bluefin Jack. Herb Lugutang and Earl Baldevia brought in the second largest catch with a 28.98 lb. Mamulan/Yellowspot Jack.
