BOTTOMED OUT DROPS BABY BOTTOMS

PRESS RELEASE – The Bud Light Women’s Fast-Pitch League action continued Sunday at Leo Palace Resort with the Bottomed Out taking on the Baby Bottomed Out in a battle of club teams.  Bottomed Out the elder group of players would show the youngsters how it’s done with Bottomed Out taking a 15-5 mercy rule game in 5 innings.

Baby Bottomed Out would start off the game strong with Kamrie Heflin and Amanda Castro leading off the game with back to back singles.  Kayleen Blas would drive in Heflin with an rbi fielder’s choice to give the younger Bottomed Out squad an early 1-0 lead.

Bottomed Out would answer in the bottom of the 1st inning with Vanessa Cruz doubling in Jauria Camacho and Tiana Chaco rbi fielder’s choice driving in two more runs to take a 3-1 lead after one inning of play.

In the 2nd inning Baby Bottomed Out would continue the scoring cutting the lead to 3-2 with Sherika Cabrera leading off with a single and coming in to score on a wild pitch.  Bottomed Out would answer in their half of the inning breaking the game open with a seven run rally.  Tiff Miner, Jasmn Pecina, Tiana Chaco and Theresa Quintanilla would provide four consecutive hits to lead the offense.

Bottomed Out starting pitcher Vanessa Cruz would retire Baby Bottomed Out in top of the 3rd to hold on to the 10-2 lead.  The Bottomed Out offense would stay hot in the bottom of the 3rd with Vanessa Cruz again providing a rbi double for a 13-2 lead after three innings.

Baby Bottomed Out would chip away at the lead in the 4th inning with three runs thanks to four walks and two errors by Bottomed Out cutting the lead to 13-5.  That would be as close as the youngsters would get as Bottomed Out would add two more runs in 4th to take a 15-5 lead and close out Baby Bottomed Out in the 5th inning to take the win via the 8 run mercy rule after 5 innings.

Vanessa Cruz picks up the win on the mound and sparked the offense going 3-3 with two doubles, three runs and two rbi to pick up Strike Zone Player of the Game as Bottomed Out evens their record at 1-1.  Amanda Castro collects two hits for Baby Bottomed Out in the loss as they fall to 1-2 on the season.

QUICK HITS

Guam’s Wayne Blas completed his 13th Boston Marathon and 38th marathon overall.
The island’s record holder in the distance, Blas finished this year in 2:35:21.
“I’m very happy with this result because seven months ago, I was sidelined with a stress fracture that kept me out for three months. No running! To come back on an abbreviated marathon build and finish one of the toughest races strong and healthy was a big win for me.”
His time of 2:29:38 at the 2023 Chicago Marathon and World Marathon Majors Age Group Championships stands as the Guam National Record.
