In a never-ending 60-minute battle between the Bishop Obispos and the Harvest Eagles, both teams ended up short with a tie of 1-1 Tuesday at the Harvest Soccer Field.
From the start of the whistle both defenses dominated the field, not letting either pass without a struggle. With pressure, it was the Obispos who found their offense first, shooting seven consecutive shot attempts by the first nine minutes from both Mia San Nicolas and Chloe Salas, but none could pass Eagles goalie Bryn Collier as she made sure the opponents didn’t have a chance for a goal.
“We wanted to pick up from our last game,” said Collier when asked about her defensive intensity.
The Eagles defense fought harder to keep the Obispos away from the net and it wasn’t long before their offense sparked the first goal of the game coming from Eagles’ Megan Larkin in the 13th minute.

Obispos’ San Nicolas found that her team had an offensive advantage breaking through the Eagles defense, but Collier’s fast reflexes stopped San Nicolas’ shots short, keeping the Eagles in the lead. But with determination comes a prize, as San Nicolas was able to get passed Collier and score the easy goal, tying the game with less than two minutes left in the half.
With the Obispos eager to put up another point for their side in the start of the second half, the Eagles couldn’t keep up with their speed. San Nicolas and Salas kept the Eagles defense scrambling for the ball, but after one goal, Collier wasn’t going to let another one pass so easily.
As the Obispos looked for an opening, their quickness kept them not far from the goalie’s box, but with time running out, they couldn’t find the shot they wanted, ending in a tie.
“With the intensity of the game, we just kept playing. We improved and I’m really proud of how we did today,” added Collier after the game.
