GET READY FOR MENS 15s RUGBY

[sixcol_five_last]

By Errol Alegre, Jr.

HEINEKEN RUGBY 15s SCHEDULE 10x6.5Heineken men’s and women’s 7’s tournament, Heineken beach rugby tournament, and now another installment of Heineken rugby is set to get underway March 30th as the mens 15’s tournament brings forth the island’s top rugby athletes who look to compete every Saturday at the UOG Field in Mangilao.

The league will feature the following teams: The Chiefs, The Ryders, Da Doks, and The Lions, each consisting of more than 20 rugby players. Although there are just four teams who will compete throughout the month-long tournament, fans can still expect nail-biting match-ups as all teams have balanced rosters in regards to skill, experience, intelligence, and athleticism that prevent either team from having a competitive advantage.

“The team talents are well-spread out. Any team can win on any given day,” stated league president Matt Sgro.

In a press conference held Thursday morning, Sgro also stated that 100% of proceeds from admission will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help grant the wish of a local boy by the name Keoni who suffers from Hepatic disease, a disorder that reduces liver functionality.

Last year team Young Gunz took home the Heineken Cup in an inaugural league that consisted of more than 13 teams. Later in December, team GSPN took the title in the first ever Heineken Beach Rugby tournament. Who will take home the cup in the upcoming mens 15’s tournament? Check out the intense rugby-weekend action at the UOG Field to find out!
