The Simon Sanchez Sharks girls blazed through the GW Geckos’ wrestlers with ease by coming up with a big win against the GW while the boys matches were a lot closer. With the match being at Simon Sanchez, the Sharks gave a show for their home crowd by getting a 54-6 win for the girls and 45-33 win for the boys.
Despite the many forfeits from the girls, only four matches were successfully continued with the Simon Sanchez Sharks winning all four of them.
The first match was held with the 155 lb. Division between Sharks’ Jayronne Gandaoli versus Geckos’ Taiann Tom. With only one takedown needed, Jayronne was able to get a 1:32 pin in the first round.
However, the fastest time of the girls came the 109 lb. division between Sharks’ Shalleen Espino and Geckos’ Tara Babauta. Espino came up with a takedown and a near fall and got the 1:00 pin in the first round.
Once the boys’ matches started, the intensity from the crowd increased with every wrestlers going at each other despite how exhausted they were. The fastest match of the day came from 182 lb. Division between Sharks’ Vince Charfauros and Geckos’ Joseph Munoz. Vince only used one takedown to get the pin in 14 seconds in the first round.

The fan favorite, and most unexpected, of the day was from 220 lb. Division between Sharks’ Jovan Ignacio and Geckos’ Donavann Fernandez. Jovan was at a height disadvantage but that didn’t stop him.
He constantly waited for the right time while Donavann kept trying to go for shots, until Jovan took a shot at Fernandez’ knee and took him down to his back getting the unexpected 1:29 pin in the first round.
Sharks all-star Jonah Whitt continued to show dominance by pinning Geckos’ Clyde Abuan in a little over a minute.
The Simon Sanchez Sharks keep their winning streak alive for both the boy and girls at 4-0.
