It was a match to see when both the Okkodo Bulldogs and the Simon Sanchez Sharks stepped on the mat for another IIAAG wrestling match. Because of the strength of the Sharks, the efforts of the Bulldogs were no match for them as they took down the competition and left with a win of 66-12 in the males division and 37-24 in the females division at the Okkodo gym.

For the girls, the fastest match was between Okkodo’s Narissa Iglesia and Sanchez’s Mia Aquino. With a blink of an eye, Aquino took down Iglesia in a remarkable 12-second time. But in the 175 lb. division, Sacnhez’ (jim-jitsu starlet) Jayronne Gandaoli pinned Darlene Perez in a 22 second time frame.

The crowds favorite happened to be between Sanchez’ Rekaela Aquino And Okkodo’s Jennifer Domaoal in the 117 lb. Division. Each wrestler was matching each other with reversals and barely in a neutral stance. But finally in the 3rd round, Rekaela sealed the deal with last minute pin and Jennifer couldn’t escape her lock.

In the 285 lb. Division match for males, Jovan Ignacio from Simon Sanchez concluded the final match of the day with the fastest time of a 15 second pin over Bryan Blanquisco from Okkodo.

The matchup between Sanchez’ John Rojas and Okkodo’s Merson Nethon seemed to be the crowd favorite of the night in the 195 lb. Division. Nethon sparked up the match by getting 3 quick takedowns on Rojas. But as it progressed, Rojas pulled on a reversal and Nethon became too tired to try and pull an escape. Nethon gets pinned in 1:34 in the 3rd round.

The Simon Sanchez Sharks continue their streak for both males and females with 2-0 records. While the Okkodo Bulldogs drop down to 1 loss for both divisions.

NOTES: A younger and short-handed Guam High lineup struggled to keep pace with the Friars wrestlers.  Giving up 18 points on forfeits, strong performances by returnees, John Haas, Michael Sheehan and Franco Ishmael, kept the Panthers within striking distance into the heavier divisions.  At the 182lb division, Friars, Leonardo Tudela sealed the meet for his team with a 2nd round pin over Guam High`s Ben Corliss.
