In the opening matchup of the 2013 Guam Women’s Fast Pitch League, the Tough Chicks made a statement topping team Baby Bottomed Out 24-9 Sunday afternoon at the Leo Palace Resort. The game was called after four-and-a-half innings of play due to the eight-run mercy rule.

The Tough Chicks took full advantage of pitches as third baseman Jericha Casil hit a RBI single that drove home Cammy Muna. Casil later reached home on a bases loaded walk. To round out the inning, Stephanie Olivares cranked the ball to center field that brought home Cepeda and Villaflores for the two RBI single. The Tough Chicks would end the inning up 14-6.

The Tough Chicks carried the momentum gained into the bottom of the third inning as Cepeda whacked a pitch to deep center field to score a three run in the park homerun.

Team Baby Bottomed Out continued to do well in the top of the second inning adding fours more runs to the board. After getting on base off a hit single, Tammy Mendiola later scored the first run of the inning stealing home on a wild pitch. Cabrera then cranked a two RBI single that drove home Kiana Blas and Quenga. Cabrera would score the final run of the inning off an overthrow to third base. Team Baby Bottomed Out would end the inning up 6-1.

In the win, Tough Chicks starting pitcher Danielle Preuc finished the game with four strikeouts. Stephanie Olivares went 3-3 at bat with five RBI. Cammy Muna went 2-3 with an in the park homerun.
