GIRLS SOFTBALL SEASON RAIN CHECK

The uncontrollable weather has caused the IIAAG 2014 girls softball season a delay with no games being played early on in the season. GSPN checks in with what is in store for the rest of the season.

Three of the 3rd quarter sports are currently outside sports. With boys basketball already approaching its midway point of the season, most league’s have not even started yet, more specifically softball and rugby. The girls softball season was supposed have started January 18, but the rain has once again played a factor in its delay.

IIAAG President Martin Boudreau said, “To date, no softball game has been played.”

Bourdeau will host their monthly meeting with the schools next Wednesday, February 5th, to discuss whether the softball games will be replayed or instead have a condensed season.

The most anxious of the teams are undoubtedly the Southern Dolphins, who are chasing a five-peat as champions.

“The weather is just holding everything back. My girls are ready and excited. There’s nothing we can do about this though. I tell them we just have to be patient and continue to go to their practices. They meet in the hallways for practice if they need to. We’re just being patient and keeping our fingers crossed,” explained Southern Athletic Director Dean Castro.

The weather reports have Guam pegged for “record rain fall” which does not sound promising for the girls softball season.
